Grounding - what is it?
I'm going to try and not make this sound too much 'hippy' or new age nerdy, but grounding is a very important way to connecting with reality.
It's very much a must do so that you can get reacquainted with our dear beloved Mother Earth and to bring you back from your mind, settle nerves and remind you to be in the moment.
Grounding, also known as earthing, is when humans make an electrical connection to the Earth’s energies by connecting bodily with it.
The simplest form involves walking barefoot in the grass, dirt, or sand.
As radical as it seems, grounding is simple science. Humans are bioelectrical beings that carry a positive charge, which can build up in our bodies.
Earth has a negative charge. When we make contact through grounding, we discharge our excess energy, producing a healing effect at the cellular level.
On a spiritual level it reminds us of the importance of our connection to all living things - and the Earth is very much a living, breathing being.
When you are grounded it allows you to be present, organize your thoughts, and grow in a way that is in alignment with your vision.
When you are ungrounded you may feel frantic, stressed, in chaos, easily distracted, powerless, spacey, and unconnected to your body and life.
Being ungrounded can make you feel out of control and trigger anxiety because you become easily influenced by other people and your environment. We all have those frantic days where there doesn’t seem to be enough hours, or where we are overwhelmed, people pleasing, trying to meet others’ expectations, feeling scatterbrained, or lost.
These are the times when it’s really important to re-ground and to bring your energy back to you, refill your cup, and realign with what is important to you.
When you are grounded, you become your own energy source, drawing on a strong foundational relationship within yourself. Grounding allows your body to access your talents, your power, and nourish your visions and goals to create the best life for you.
It is our job to nurture and protect those we love and this planet.
The more we ground and feel our connection with the part of the planet that we live on the more we feel energised and in awe of the natural living world.
